The third installment of Rugged Riders Untracked was held at Cypress Mountain on Sunday February 26. The girls were met with blue skies and 35 cm of snow in the previous 24 hours, the perfect conditions for finding some Untracked lines.
After a yoga practice lead by the wonderful Chloe, of YYOGA Northshore Elements, everyone devoured fresh baked goods and learned about staying safe of on the mountain with a talk from resident ski patroller, Annelie.
Eager to slash the new snow everyone headed straight up to Sky Chair. High winds had kept the chair closed the previous day so there was a stash of powder for the girls to devour.

Once on snow, the girls were split up into ability levels so that everyone could progress at their own pace. Coaches helped the girls to gain confidence riding in powder and then took them to the trees to put their skills to the test.

After stopping for a healthy, vegetarian lunch everyone headed back out as a group to hike for some secret afternoon freshies. It was amazing to see everyone getting Untracked lines at 3:30pm under bluebird skies.

After a long day of riding the girls headed back in for prizes and a quick limbo game to see who would be the winner of the Arbor Snowboard.

Christine had clearly been practicing her back bends in the morning yoga session and walked away with the win. Jamie took home the CLIF BAR prize pack and Renee left with a lovely ‘Marley’ jacket from Voleurz.

All the campers were stoked on their custom Rugged Riders gift bags packed with goodies from RipCurl, Voleurz, CLIF BAR, YYOGA, SBC and MoonRock Jewelry. -By: Jen McGoldrick, Photos: Scott Furkay
