Forum rider, Breanna Stangeland lives and rides in Whistler, B.C. Over the last couple of seasons she has regularly found herself on the podium at events like the You Look Good Rider's Cup, the Roxy Chickadee Jam and the Lake Louise stop of Volcom's Peanut Butter & Rail Jam. It's not all about contests for Breanna, though, which is why she and a couple of friends headed to the Interior this past season to get some powder turns in at Kicking Horse and in Revelstoke. Whether she's competing, linking turns in the backcountry or hanging out with friends, Breanna is all about having a good time. 1. What are you looking forward to this month? Mostly looking forward to it being summer and going to the beach, so far the weather hasn't exactly been cooperating here in Whistler. I'll probably go ride on the glacier a couple times as well. 2. What would you like to accomplish this month? Just work a ton. It's summer now so time to make some money. 3. Which female snowboarder(s) did you look up to when you were growing up? I always thought that Janna Meyen was the greatest I think it's really cool that she still kills it even today. 4. Best female snowboard video part? To be honest, I don't really watch snowboarding videos. I did however see Raewyn's part in Stance, and I'm impressed. 5. What is your pre-shred routine? Wake up, get all my gear on, stop at some coffee shop for breakfast and a London Fog then stand in line and get on the hill. I don't usually do any stretches or warm up unless it's a contest day. 6. What is the best way to avoid getting injured? Keeping healthy and in shape and knowing the fine line between pushing it and going too far. 7. Which trick could you use a little help with? Anything jumping. I feel like I lost my confidence jumping, and I need to spend more time gaining it back. 8. Where would you like to go snowboarding that you've never been to before? Anywhere in Europe. I've heard so many good things about hills there. Mainly France and Switzerland. 9. How do you motivate yourself to go out and ride when the weather is bad? Usually there is always something fun to find on the mountain. If the weather is bad, there are tons of fun tree runs around Whistler. I always try to get up because I hate hearing about how much fun I missed haha. 10. Who is your favourite person to snowboard with? Well I don't think I could narrow it down to one person. But some favourites are Taryn, Diane, Kea, Duckworth, Nat Gough and Cass, even though you're a skier. haha 11. What is your favourite song? That changes all the time. After hanging out with Nat Gough it was Bedrock. But now maybe Any Man of Mine by Shania. Classic. 12. Other than snowboarding what are you most passionate about? Just being happy. 13. Best thing about being a girl? I feel like girls get away with a lot more, for example a $400 speeding ticket. 14. Best thing about being a snowboarder? Traveling and meeting new people. Being outside and having fun all year round. 15. Thanks? My mom and dad, Brett Sanford, Andrew and Trevor, and my friends for being awesome.
