23 year old Sarah Conrad first stepped on a snowboard in 1998 in her hometown province of Nova Scotia. Since then she has become one of the top pipe riders in Canada, represented the country at 2 Winter Olympics, and graced the cover of Snowboard Canada's Women's Annual. She may be quiet and unassuming at times, but she is a force to reckon with on the contest scene. With Conrad's busy winter schedule and list of accomplishments it would seem that her main goal in snowboarding would be total contest domination, but in fact the girl just wants to have fun. 1. What are you looking forward to this month? The Roxy Chicken Jam is one of my favorite contests of the year, so I'm looking forward to that. 2. What would you like to accomplish this month? Fun. 3. Which female snowboarder(s) did you look up to when you were growing up? Natasza Zurek. 4. Best female snowboard video part? Raewyn Reid's part in Stance. 5. What is your pre-shred routine? I don't really have much of one. Eat some food, then head out. 6. What is the best way to avoid getting injured? Don't fall. 7. Which trick could you use a little help with? Picking up? 8. Where would you like to go snowboarding that you've never been to before? Newfoundland. I'm so close, but I've never been. 9. How do you motivate yourself to go out and ride when the weather is bad? Remind myself of just how many people would kill to be in my shoes. 10. Who is your favourite person to snowboard with? Probably Maëlle, because it usually means I'm riding pow somewhere. 11. Other than snowboarding what are you most passionate about? Well I'm at the Olympics right now, so I'm really proud to be Canadian. When I'm back home I spend as much time skateboarding and surfing as possible. 12. Best thing about being a girl? Don't have to be a guy. 13. Best thing about being a snowboarder? Riding with your friends and having fun. 14. Thanks? My family, teammates, Owen, Jon Burke, my sponsors Ride, Nixon, Nomis, Celsius, Dakine, Cappel, Anon, McDonald's, ProGirl and everyone at SBC!
