Cilla Layers, purveyors of first layer fashions more instant cool than simply insulator, has added legendary snowbarder Tara Dakides to their pro team. Dakides is the winner of five Winter X-Games gold medals, a three time Women's Rider of the Year as decided by Snowboarder Magazine, three Transworld Rider's Poll Awards and named by Sports Illustrated as the Coolest Sportswoman of 2001, not to mention her huge influence on the sport and the evolution of women's riding.
Alexis Waite, Cilla's vice president of sales and marketing, as well as a partner, had this to say: "Tara Dakides is the ultimate rockstar of women's snowboarding. I am proud to call her my friend and honored that she is now a part of the Cilla family."
“The quality of the fabrics feel great against my skin while keeping me warm and dry," says Dakides. "The longer tops with the waterproof band keeps snow out of my pants when I’m riding and adds some style to my kit. Cilla is my under-layer for riding, but cute enough to wear to my yoga class or as casual street wear.”
Dakides' interests go beyond riding, including: rally car racing, motocross, surfing and skating. In 2008 she released an autobiographical documentary Against the Grain, which detailed her struggles with her demons. These days she's working on a motion picture filming in Austria that's expected to be released in 2011.
