Last week at the US Open in Stratton, Vermont was the best weather I've seen VT be in years. Sunny and warm every day (except finals). They made the course a bit smaller than previous years due to lack of snow but it was still really fun.
The course had three sets of rail features and two jumps about 50 and 60 feet. This course made it possible for all riders to throw down and a lot of the time go huge. Women were all doing 7’s in finals and men were doing Double 12’s. The second jump was Mini's Creative Use of Space feature, where Hans Mindnich did a Backside 180 while shooting a basketball into a hoop that was set up below. Seppe Smits won with a Cab 9 shifty and Enni Rukajarvi won with a clean Cab 5, both taking home $5,000. Canadian Seb Toots took 1st in Slopestyle along with Jamie Anderson for the ladies. On top of their wins, Seb and Jamie both took home the Burton Global Open Series and TTR overall champs awards and a whole ton of cash. -Kara Rennie
