Rugged Riders Kinky Rail Jam

Feb 2, 2009

Author: Jenn Urbanski

It’s not every day that girls get to showcase their snowboard skills all in one place; so everyone was super pumped for the Rugged Riders Kinky Rail Jam held at Horseshoe Resort, Ontario last Saturday. Thanks to Nikita, Inverno Clinics, and EventSing, the crowd got to witness the most rugged all-girls jam Ontario has ever seen. The event organizer even lost her tooth during set-up –- it was just that rugged! With top riders in the advanced category competing for the chance to travel to Stoneham, QC for the Snowboard Jamboree, the girls were throwing down true rugged style.

The event promotes progression and participation and these goals were certainly met as riders from beginner to advanced levels of riding were stomping tricks and cheering each other on. The day was full of high fives and smiles and nothing but good vibes could be felt throughout the park.  Even though the spotlight was on the ladies, there was a crew of guys that helped make the event as awesome as it was! From the boys with the bbq skills to the men behind the lenses, the support from all the guys was much appreciated. A special shout out goes to Matt Baird and the park staff who made sure the park was in perfect condition. Unique to this contest series is the chance for girls who are just starting to compete to ride with girls at a similar skill level. So if you’ve always wanted to get in on the action but find it a little intimidating to step into a contest that only offers one girls category, make sure to check out the future Kinky stops being made across Canada. Thanks to Eve Northmore, Lindsay Beale, the girls at Rugged Riders and everyone else who helped to make the day such a success.  Look below to see who placed top three in each category.
