10 Things You Didn't Know About Jess Kimura

Nov 6, 2009

Author: Sara Tollestrup/Photos: Mike Jones

SKATE OR DIE
Jess is a sick skateboarder and destroys the huge quarterpipe in the Whistler skate park. She skates as well as a lot of dudes out there. For proof check out her part in the new Peep Show video --she's got some skating shots in there.

SUPER CHAMP
She started snowboarding when she was 14 years old. By the time Jess turned 18 she was a National halfpipe and boardercross champ.

NIPPON
Contrary to popular belief Jess is half Japanese not half First Nations.

EAT GREAT EVEN LATE
Jess is in love with food from Wendy's. She's also a big fan of iced tea. When it comes to livening up her food butter is her go to item.

SIDEKICK
Photographer Karla Charlton has been Jess' sidekick for years. Jess and Karla don't just work together they also hang together too.

FRANKENSTEIN

She has an amazing ability to create something out of nothing. The best example is her homemade fisheye Elph cam which she built with some metal scraps, screws, a screwdriver and a lens. Not only is she good at building custom cameras but she's also good with electronic devices in general. She has also made cool backyard setup features and drop-in ramps for shredding.

GIBSON
The girl can play guitar.

HARD HAT
Right now Jess works 12 hours a day, 6 days a week doing construction. She has a big collection of power tools all of which she uses. She is also currently working on her Stone Mason apprenticeship.

PAY IT FORWARD
According to her close friends Jess is super generous and is always down to help a friend out.

TOONS
Jess is a big fan of cartoons. No, not the run of the mill Disney stuff, she likes "South Park" and "The Family Guy".
