On Saturday February 21, female shredders across Ontario headed over to Blue Mountain’s Badlands Terrain Park to compete in the Billabong Flaunt It contest. Waking up to sunny skies and bluebird conditions, the weather couldn’t have been better. The morning started off with a jam format slopestyle contest featuring two jumps. With former pro shred Jon Roth and Billabong’s Risto Scott on the mic, plus the Amp Energy crew handing out free drinks, everyone was having a great time. While 4’s seems to the trick of the day, the jam format also allowed the competitors to try new stuff.

“I love the jam format because it’s less pressure,” said Captia’s Danielle Brown. Leanna King also agrees. “Everyone got to try new tricks without feeling like they would count towards their overall score.” While all the girls put on a great show, Jenna Blasman impressed the judges with her huge Frontside Cork 5 Indy.

As the afternoon came around, the rail contest got underway. Held near the Badlands chairlift, those heading up to the top had the best seats in the house. Featuring a down rail, the girls took turns throwing down while trying to get a share of prize purse. As the contest came to a close emcee Jon Roth said it was nice to see girls’ specific event with a great turnout and impressive riding.

During the awards ceremony, Jenna was all smiles taking the top spots in the rail jam and slopestyle categories. Billabong is also sending her to the Flaunt It finals at Mont Tremblant in March where’s there $8,500 up for grabs.

Thanks to Risto Scott, Catherine Desrochers and Nathan Benson at Billabong, Jon Roth and the Blue Mountain staff for hosting the event. For more information on the Flaunt It series and to register for upcoming tour stops head over to the Flaunt It website.
