In an industry inundated by products that are completely useless to snowboarding (think pizza rolls and hot dogs), it's nice to see a brand like Pom Pom that actually helps riders get the job done. Sarah Cameron was working on Magical Go-Go with her husband, Roger, "in the wee hours of the night—or morning—in 2007," when she suddenly came up with the name, logo and concept for Pom Pom. "I had the vision for the brand and together we brought it to life," says Cameron. Since that morning in 2007, the husband and wife team have grown Pom Pom into a full-fledged wax and accessories brand dedicated to girls. For slow and sticky boards they produced Pocket Rocket (all temperatures) wax that you can whip out of your pocket, rub on, buff and go. Their Wacky Tacky Traction Wax goes on your topsheet, like surfers use, so that you can avoid falling down in the lift line and looking like a total dork. Even more awesome is the yummy scents that the wax comes in like strawberry. They also locally make a variety of cute and cozy accessories like facemasks, neck tubes and beanies to name a few. The Narf is a wrap around neck warmer lined with fleece that comes in a bunch of different colours and patterns, so that you can "totally change the look of your get-up at a minimum price," says Cameron. In addition to focusing on the innovation of their products, one of the main goals of the brand was to have an amazing team of lady shreds backing it. Pom Pom enlisted riders as diversely talented as: Marie-France Roy, Raewyn Reid, Desiree Melancon and Sachi Tanaka. The company also partnered and collaborated on some cool projects this past year. They joined forces with Volcom for their Peanut Butter and Rail Jam tour and did jacket and outerwear collabs with Bonfire. Pom Pom is also involved with the upcoming Peep Show video due out this fall and the Bonfire Pipe to Pipe, a summer time skate and snow event at Windell's Snowboard Camp. Now that the summer is practically here Cameron is going to slap some Pom Pom Surf Wax on her board and head out to catch some waves, but don't worry that doesn't mean the brand is going on permanent vacation.
