MARCH RIDER OF THE MONTH
BRYN VALAIKA
What has been the highlight of your month?
Going to Utah with the Nike 6.0 team and shooting with Zimmerman was a blast. I probably would have to say it was the highlight of the month thus far.
What is the worst thing that happened this month?
I probably would have to say getting a bad grade on a test has been the worst thing this month so it hasn't been that bad.
Who does your shred crew consist of these days?
Lyn-z, Jared, Tyler, Chloe, Zak and a few other people, really whoever is out there riding.
What is something you’ve learned this month?
That traveling and keeping up in regular school is hard and a pain at times.
What is your favourite aspect of snowboarding?
Meeting new people, traveling the world and learning new lessons that I wouldn't learn if I were a normal kid.
Do you have some advice for the mini shreds out there?
Keep with it and never give up even if someone says you'll never make it. And yes it is possible to be a snowboarder and attend regular school and travel all at the same time, or at least it’s been possible for me so far.
Aside from snowboarding what have you been up to?
School, running track, playing soccer and hanging out with my friends when I am in town.
Which song is on repeat in your iPod right now?
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.
What is your favourite vacation spot?
Costa Rica.
If you could change something about the world what would it be?
Global Warming.
If you could change something about snowboarding what would it be?
There would be no cliques.
What do you want to accomplish next?
Start filming more. One day get the female video part of the year.
Who, in snowboarding, has influenced you the most?
My big brother Keegan Valaika.
Why is snowboarding not just a hobby for you?
Because it’s a stress reliever, it helps me relax and have fun to get away from everything. It’s technically not a hobby but it’s my favourite thing to do.
Thanks?
Thanks to God, my family, especially my mom, my big brother, my dad, all my friends and sponsors, all my team managers and everyone else who has helped me in life and in my snowboarding career.
