Lift Line Poll: What was your first snowboard?

About 10 years ago, my parents bought my first snowboard for me—I think it was a Prior and it was way too big and stiff for me. –Helen Schettini

I got a Nitro Glide 148 when I was in Grade 11. My parents bought it for me for Christmas. I had to buy the boots myself so I wore Sorrels for the first few trips. I ended up with a sprained ankle, but it was worth it. –Robin Van Gyn

A Sims All Mountain, it was purple with gold stripes down the middle. I'm sure it was a Christmas pressie from my parents. Oh and don't forget the lowbacks! –Mercedes Nicoll

Rossignol something or other, with the big rooster on the base—got for Christmas to share with the brosef. –Nat Gough

Burton Chopper 118—my parents bought it for me when I was 12! I learned in Nansen at Tremblant and wanted to die. –Magalie Dubois

A flourescent orange K2 JuJu. It was probably too big for me but I loved it. –Molly Milligan

I got my first board for Christmas from my dad, instead of skis. We picked out a Burton Shannon Dunn 144, from a shop called Gold Coast in Courtenay.  It had a dolphin on the bottom and moon and stars on the top which glowed in the dark, and was slate blue on the topsheet.  I rode the crap out of it and loved it so much, I still have it. –Meghann O’Brien

My first snowboard was a Sims Noah Salasnek 156, with the skate trucks on the bottom.  It was super old and shitty when I bought it from the ski swap for 75 bucks, and way too big and heavy for me. The bindings popped off when I was riding down the hill all the time, so I kind of hated snowboarding at first. –Jessica Kimura

Shaun Palmer 156 bought from The Boardroom. –Taylor Godber

My first one I bought was a Forum Destroyer—I had to convince my dad for months the buy it. Finally went to Freewheelin' store that used to be in Calgary and got it. Good thing I got it like 10 cm too big. –Breanna Stangeland

My first board was a Burton Chopper at the Martock ski swap in '99? –Alex Duckworth

It was a little tan Vision snowboard. My parents surprised my sister and I with them for Christmas when I was eleven. Best Christmas gift I have received to date. Thanks Santa! –Raewyn Reid
