LG Mountain Festival: City Rail Jam

In conjunction with the LG FIS World Cup Park Royal South hosted the LG Mountain Festival on their rooftop parking, complete with sponsor booths, bikini and lingerie shows and of course snowboarding with the City Rail Jam. As with most rail jams there always seems to be a few guys who you wonder how they even got into the event as you cringe upon their ride up and usually flail or catch down the rail but there were for sure some stand out rail riders like Jed Anderson, Harrison Grey, and Cory Gallon. For the ladies only 3 were given the opportunity to compete, Molly Milligan, Jess Kimura, and Breanna Strangeland.  After all the slush settled Jed Anderson and Jess Kimura emerged triumphant.

CITY RAIL RESULTS:
MEN
    1.    JED ANDERSON
    2.    JESMOND DUBEAU
    3.    CORY GALLON
WOMEN
    1.    JESS KIMURA
    2.    BREANNA STRANGELAND

CDN Open Photo Gallery

The Inaugural Burton Canadian Open Premiered this weekend in Calgary at Canada Olympic Park.  An international field of competitors went up against a good mix of local talent in both the pipe and slopestyle events. With awesome weather, sun, and a perfect pipe and slopestyle course I witnessed some of the best competition riding for both male and female riders this year.  Good times were had riding, hanging and chilling at the event all week.  Every event and finals was impressive but the female slopestyle finals blew me away. Girls were stomping 720’s, Cab 540’s, switch B/S 540’s, combo rail tricks it was very impressive!

Hanging with the ladies all week was a good time for sure. Check out my Canadian Open Photo Gallery!

Catboarding with Simon

Between my travels to Idaho with ThirtyTwo, Aspen for X-Games and SIA in Vegas I managed to fit in a day of  Catboarding at Powder Mountain with Simon Chamberlain, his brothers Andre and Matt and ThirtyTwo/Stepchild Am Joe Sexton all to be filmed by the Fuel TV Crew for Simon's upcoming First Hand.  The clouds hung low and the visibility was pretty minimal at first but as the morning progressed pockets of sun began to emerge and we could actually see and enjoy all the fresh powder! Although there was a lot of set up and stop and go for the filming it was an epic day with friends and cool to see how tight Simon is with his brothers and teammate.  Thanks Jory and Jeff for letting me tag along and thanks Powder Mountain for having amazing terrain and great guides Nick and Shaymus. Look for Simon's First Hand to air on Fuel TV in March 2009.
